A transient worker from Texas accused of attacking a Waupun woman is on trial this week in Fond du Lac County Circuit Court. Twenty three year old Juan Antonio Arriaga is charged with kidnapping and robbery. The incident happened last November 27th when a police officer on routine patrol was in the right place at the right time. Police chief Scott Louden says the officer noticed a man who appeared to be following a woman. The woman than began screaming for help. The suspect took off running and was apprehended a short time later.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
