A McFarland woman has reached a plea deal with prosecutors after leading Waupun police on a chase while under the influence of cold medicine.
62-year-old Kathryn Brown will plead guilty to a reduced misdemeanor charge of Failure to Stop after originally being charged with felony Fleeing an Officer.
According to the criminal complaint, when police finally used a spike strip to get her to stop, they found nearly 20 empty bottles of cough syrup, all of which had been bought within the last 3 weeks.
Brown will be on probation for one year and must maintain absolute sobriety.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
