With the school year starting next week construction is ongoing on several Waupun School District projects. The first project is a new athletic complex at the junior-senior high school. School administrator Tanya Olson says work on the track is about six weeks behind schedule because of the wet summer weather. Olson says crews are currently working on an addition to the high school fitness center. Meanwhile Olson says design work on other projects is nearing completion. Waupun School District residents approved a $36 million referendum last fall.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
