The Fond du Lac Police Department says a controlled detonation took place at about 7:45p.m. Tuesday evening at Lake Side Park West off of U.S. HWY45. The controlled detonation was carried out by EOD members from the 115 Air National Guard Unit out of Madison and the ATF. The items detonated were old live military ordnance found inside a residence in the City of Fond du Lac. Police say there was no danger to the public.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
