A Fond du Lac man is going to prison for dealing heroin. At a hearing Monday Travis Kind was sentenced to eight years in prison followed by 12 years of extended supervision for conspiracy to deliver heroin. Kind was one of 11 people arrested earlier this year in a drug bust conducted by Fond du lac police and the Lake Winnebago MEG Drug Unit. District attorney Eric Toney says Kind cooperated with investigators and provided information leading to the arrest and prosecution of others. Kind told investigators that he bought and resold four to five grams of heroin daily between May of 2016 and February of this year with a value estimated at more than $150,000.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
