10-5-17 mercury marine-humanitarian efforts in cameroon

todayOctober 4, 2017

Fond du Lac based Mercury Marine is aiding humanitarian efforts in Cameroon, Africa.  Brunswick Corporation and Merc are donating a new diveboat and several outboard engines to assist Africa Mercy.  Mercy is the world’s largest private hospital ship that offers medical care and specialized training for doctors in some of the world’s poorest areas.  Merc spokesman Lee Gordon says it’s a great feeling to know that boat motors made in Fond du Lac and helping those less fortunate half-way across the world.  “To have something that somebody in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin put their hands on and made that is now potentially saving lives is pretty cool,”  Gordon told WFDL news.  Merc donated two, 25 horsepower outboard engines to replace engines on the Mercy ship’s rescue boats, as well as an Ocean Runner 460 RIB, powered by a four stroke 60hp Mercury Marine outboard.
