This year’s annual Light Up the Night: Domestic Abuse Awareness Event starts at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 5 at the Essential Rock Church, 40 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. Light Up the Night is held as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is October. Door opens for the event at 6 p.m. with “Hear My Story” set at 6:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., participants can join the Allies Against Domestic Violence Walk. The program and walk are free and open to the public. “Light Up the Night brings awareness to the typically hidden issue of domestic violence,” according to Tiffany Wiese, Agnesian Domestic Violence Services supervisor. “Fond du Lac’s Light Up the Night event provides awareness every year dedicated to domestic violence. There are those who live within our own community here in Fond du Lac who may experience physical abuse, sexual abuse or emotional abuse on a regular basis. In fact, one out of three women, and one out of seven men, has been abused sometime in their lifetime.”
