The number of domestic violence cases reported to the Fond du Lac County District attorneys office is down so far this year. Assistant DA Kristin Menzel specializes in domestic violence cases. Menzel says there have been more than 200 fewer such cases forwarded to her office in 2017 compared to last year. District attorney Eric Toney says domestic violence is often a pattern that escalates over a period of time.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
