A spokesman for Mercury Marine says the company doesn’t plan on having further talks at this time after union workers rejected a new contract. The union voted down the offer after the company and union representatives reached a tentative agreement last week. Merc spokesman Lee Gordon told WFDL news the contract would have been good for employees and help the company attract new workers to fill jobs. Gordon says Merc has invested $800 million at its Fond du lac plant since 2009 when workers agreed to wage concessions along with a $53 million incentives package from local and state government. The union will continue to operate under an agreement signed in 2014, which runs through 2021. That deal included wage increases, ratification bonuses and healthcare initiatives.
