Ribbon cutting ceremonies were held this week for the official re-opening of Pioneer Road near Mercury Marine. The project included the reconstruction of Pioneer Road from west of Hickory Street to north of Rogersville Road. County executive Al Buechel says the intersection in front of the employee entrance at Mercury Marine is now signalized and timed to the company shift changes. The project also included a new roundabout at Pioneer and Military Road.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
