1-3-17 local candidates for april election

Five candidates plan to run for four seats on the Fond du Lac city council.  Incumbent council president Karen Merkel, and incumbents Kay Miller and Derek Terbeest are running for re-election.  Incumbent LeeAnn Lorrigan cannot run because of term limits.  Challengers Ben Giles and Donna Richards have filed  nomination papers.  Giles is the son of councilmember Greg Giles. The Waupun mayor and three alderman are up for re-election in April.  Mayor Julie Nickel and aldermen Pete Kaczmarski, Mike Matoushek Jr. and Nancy Vanderkin are all running unopposed.  There will be three contested races for Fond du Lac County Board in the April election.  Incumbent Gary Will faces a challenge from Andrew Zuelke in District 2.  Lowell Prill and Michael Beer  have filed papers to run for the District 6 seat.   Incumbent Tom Dornbrook has moved out of the district.  Dornbrook is challenging incumbent Joseph Koch for the District 9 supervisory seat.  Two incumbents are running unopposed  for re-election to the Fond du lac School Board.  Linda Uselmann and Susan Jones are running for a three year term.  Jones is running for her eighth term while Uselmann is running for her second term.   Incumbent Ron Paul filed a declaration of candidacy to run for re-election to the Waupun School Board seat representing the city of Fox Lake and towns of Fox Lake and Westford. Incumbent Kathy Schlieve is not running for re-election for an at-large seat on the board.
