A group of North Fond du Lac Horace Mann High School students is getting first hand experience in the construction trade. The students are helping local construction contractors build a single family house on Creek Vu Drive in the village. Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says its part of the North Fond du Lac Building Trades Cooperative. A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday. The house is scheduled to be completed in June. Last year the students helped build their first house on Michigan Avenue.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
