MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker says he’s confident that his legislative priorities, including a child tax rebate and overhaul of the juvenile justice system, will pass. Walker spoke to reporters Wednesday after he met with Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald reiterated his doubts that there will be time to pass Walker’s juvenile justice package before the session ends next month. Fitzgerald also said a sales tax holiday Walker wants is “up in the air.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
