Several dignitaries were on hand Thursday morning for groundbreaking ceremonies a $10 million expansion at Fond du lac’s Mercury Marine. Merc spokesman Lee Gordon says the two story NVH or Noise, Vibration, Harshness facility is part of the company’s effort to continue to produce the quietest outboard motors in the market. “This is a huge part of our success as we go forward to make sure that every engine we bring out exceeds and excels the consumer demand in this space,” Gordon told WFDL news. The 20,000 square foot building will be completed in October.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
