Fond du Lac County has designated April 8th – 14th, 2018 as Public Safety Telecommunicator’s Week in recognition of the dedicated men and women of the Fond du Lac County Communications Center. The Fond du Lac County Communications Center is a civilian-run 911 center that serves 17 fire departments, 5 ambulance services, 10 first responder groups and 9 law enforcement agencies throughout the county. In 2017, the highly-skilled and trained dispatchers answered over 26,000 911 calls and 147,000 administrative calls for these public safety agencies. In celebration of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, an open house was held Monday at the Communications Center.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
