todayApril 25, 2018

Waupun High School students will see firsthand the dangers of distracted driving. Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says a mock distracted driving crash will be held Thursday at Waupun High School.  DeMaa says the mock crash was coordinated by the Waupun High School Senior Democatic Seminar group in advance of the high school prom this Saturday.   “There will be a total of six patients and the fire department will have to work on extrication.  Life Star Ambulance will work on patient assessment and treatment on the scene and Flight for Life is also coming in,”  DeMaa told WFDL news.  DeMaa says the message is that distracted driving can change lives in an instant.   DeMaa says drivers need to concentrate on the road, not their cellphone. Nationwide  3450 people were killed in distracted driving crashes in 2016 accounting for 9.2 percent of the total number of traffic fatalities.
