Several major highway projects are planned for 2019 in Fond du Lac County. One of the bigger projects involves reconstructing Highway V, including a roundabout at V and Pioneer Road. Highway commissioner Tom Janke says an even bigger project this summer will involve reconstructing Highway G in St. Cloud. “That’s a project that will be contracted out. We got some federal and state funding for that particular project,” Janke told WFDL news. Highway paving projects include County HH from Highway 151 to Highway G, and County Highway S in the town of Auburn. Janke says other major projects include Highways C and UU.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
