Fond du Lac area residents got an opportunity last night to get a first hand look at Fond du Lac High School’s new Architecture, Construction, Engineering Academy. An open house was held for what is described as the largest collaborative effort in the state between industry and education. Bob Roehrig with County Materials says the Academy will be beneficial for students regardless of whether they pursue a construction trade or go to college. “This is going to be such a great opportunity for the kids,” Roehrig told WFDL news. “…and with the companies that were here tonight the opportunities these kids are going to have and the relationships they’ll build just by being a part of this program and the journeymen from those companies being able to train them is a nice connection.” Fond du Lac County executive Al Buechel says it’s a great program for the students, and the county as a whole. “Its great to see the business people of this community partnering with the school district to provide this type of facility and this type of training and experience for these young students,” Buechel said.
