3-12-19 republican state senator supports lifting protections for gray wolves

A northern Wisconsin lawmaker says he’s pleased the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wants to lift protections for timber wolves.  Republican state senator Tom Tiffany of Hazelhurst  the wolf population in Wisconsin is healthy and no longer needs the protections.  “This is a very good decision to allow the delisting of the timber wolf  and allow state management of the gray wolf in the lower 48 states,”  Tiffany told WFLD news.   Tiffany says deer hunters are also negatively impacted by wolves.  The DNR estimated as many as 944 wolves roamed the state last winter.
