The Fond du lac County Sheriff’s Office responded to more than two dozen mostly minor traffic crashes on slippery, snow-covered roads over the weekend. Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says freezing rain, coupled with heavy, set snow made for difficult driving conditions Saturday night and Sunday morning. “We had a total of 27 motor vehicle related incidents. The majority of those were run-offs,” Tadych told WFDL news.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
