A new study lists Fond du Lac as one of the top cities in its population category to be a police officer. The group Safety.com lists Fond du Lac the second best city with a population under 125,000 to be a police officer, behind Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The group says it uses the latest data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting program and Bureau of Labor Statistics. The report says property crime is Fond du Lac’s top category.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
