An armed standoff in the village of North Fond du Lac has ended peacefully. Fond du Lac County Sherifff Ryan Waldschmidt says early this morning the Sheriff’s SWAT Team was called to assist North Fond du Lac police for an armed man inside a residence on Wisconsin Avenue. Waldschmidt says shortly after 6am the subject came out of the house and surrendered to SWAT officers. Waldschmidt says no shots wwere fired and nobody was hurt.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
