6-13-19 fdl city council approves government center security ordinance

todayJune 13, 2019

The Fond du Lac city council has approved an ordinance covering the new manned security checkpoint at the city-county government center.   The ordinance sets out how the screening process, entry and weapons will be handled .   If someone would violate the security ordinance,  city police officers would be able to  issue a citation.  Generally, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will  handle security and enforcement.  City police would only be involved on the evenings of City meetings, when the sheriff’s deputies would not be present or if police would be called in for back-up.   The checkpoint at the building’s north entrance is expected to be in operation in about a month.   A similar resolution will come before the county board.
