A former Waupun resident has been sentenced to prison for filing false tax returns. Forty eight year old Kimberly Bagneski was sentenced to a year in prison and ordered to pay more than $84,000 in restitution. Bagneski was accused of filing at least 20 false tax returns with the IRS.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
