6-25-19 senate democratic leader says state budget is “missed opportunity”

todayJune 24, 2019

The senate Democratic leader says a budget passed by the Republican controlled finance committee is one of missed opportunity.   State senator Jennifer Shilling says governor Evers’ budget championed many issues he heard from residents during listening sessions across the state to fix roads, invest in schools and expand Medicaid.  “This budget misses those opportunities that Republicans put through with deep cuts to education and a funding formula that is onerous only to Wisconsin drivers  and not capturing out of state drivers who use our roads and buy our gas.  And it once again misses the mark on accepting federal dollars, our Wisconsin tax dollars, for expanded health care coverage,”  Shilling told WFDL news.  Shilling says polls show 70 percent of Wisconsin residents support expanding Medicaid.
