The State Supreme Court has denied a Fond du lac attorney’s petition to have his license to practice law in Wisconsin reinstated. Seven years ago the Supreme Court ordered that Christopher Mutschler’s law license be revoked and ordered Mutschler to pay $250,000 in restitution for taking money from clients and not following through on the cases. In denying reinstatement the court noted that Mutschler has made no restitution payments to the clients aggrieved by his misconduct. At the time of revocation Mutschler had 59 pending investigations against him. According to a complaint with the OLR Mutschler would ask for an advance fee to represent a person in a case…and would advise his client to enter no contest pleas in drunken driving and traffic cases…promising to win them on appeal. The complaint says in some cases Mutschler would not notify his clients about upcoming court hearings and would not appear in court himself to represent his clients.
