The Fond du Lac Public Works director says city officials hope to take steps to help prevent an area of the city that seems to always flood during periods of heavy rain. Fruth Field and the neighborhood along South Street have been particularily prone to flooding over the years and last week was no exception. For the second time this year Fruth looked more like a retention pond than a football field Wednesday morning. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says the obvious answer is that area is lower than other areas along the Fond du Lac River. But Skiff says further north the river is restricted by sheet piling near the old Quik Freeze site to control soil contamination. Skiff says the city is working with the DNR to try to remedy that situation. “We would just like to see the river in that area restored to it’s natural width,” Skiff told WFDL news.
