Following the recent snowstorm the Fond du Lac fire chief is asking residents to adopt a fire hydrant. Fire chief Pete O’Leary is asking residents to make sure fire hydrants are clear of snow and ice. “With all the fire hydrants we have in the city there would be no way the city could take that job on alone,” O’Leary told WFDL news. O’Leary says when it comes to fighting fires, every second counts.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
