Wisconsin Republican congressman Glenn Grothman says supports an $8.3 billion dollar coronavirus spending bill. President Donald Trump signed the bill Friday, which pumps billions into prevention efforts and research in hopes of producing a vaccine quickly for the deadly disease. Grothman says health officials have stressed that most of the people who have died are the frail elderly and those with underlying medical conditions. The size of the bill dwarfs the $2.5 billion in funding the Trump administration had originally proposed.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
