Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue has been recognized for it’s life-saving response and treatment of stroke patients. In 2016 Wisconsin was one of nine states to receive funding through the Wisconsin Coverdell Stroke program. The program focuses on being able to demonstrate improvement across stroke systems of care from EMS response to inpatient care, secondary prevention and post-stroke rehabilitation. Assistant Chief of EMS Todd Janquart says Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue was recognized during the recent state Stroke Coalition conference as the top Coverdell participating agencies in Wisconsin for ensuring that scene times are less than 15 minutes. Janquart says short scene times allow patients to receive critical treatment early to eliminate blockage or stop bleeding and minimize damage to the brain.
