Republican congressman Glenn Grothman is encouraging the safe reopening of Wisconsin hospitals and medical facilities to elective surgeries and other elective procedures. Grothman says Wisconsinites have done an outstanding job slowing the spread of the virus and many hospitals have enough room to treat additional non COVID-19 patients. “I keep getting complaints from people who work in the hospitals wondering about the patients, why they can’t get these procedures done when it has been apparent, I think for at least a month, the projections of hospitalizations have been way wrong, ” Grothman told WFDL news. Grothman says Wisconsin has fallen short on the projections of the number of deaths and people who would be hospitalized from COVID-19. Grothman says the bureaucrats in Washington and Madison should be encouraging health care providers to resume elective services. In addition to Fond du Lac’s St. Agnes Hospital, Waupun Memorial Hospital and Ripon Medical Center have announced plans to slowly resume some elective procedures this week, focusing on patients with the highest need first.
