Gas prices in Wisconsin and across the country have plummeted in the last couple of weeks, and when it bottoms out is anybody’s guess. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says eleven states, including Wisconsin, have gas price averages of less than two dollars a gallon. Jarmuscz a couple of factors will likely determine how long the price drop continues. “Either demand has to pick back up with people going back to work and traveling or production has to be reduced,” Jarmuscz told WFDL news. Gas prices in Fond du Lac are close to $1.70 a gallon for unleaded regular.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
