The Environmental Health supervisor with Fond du Lac County says she hopes steps taken by local colleges and universities will help prevent what’s happening at UW-Madison. More than 1,000 UW Madison students and several employees have tested positive for COVID-19. Danielle Vollendorf says she agrees with the University of Wisconsin-Madison moving all classes online and quarantining students in two of its largest dorms as it deals with rising cases of COVID-19. Vollendorf says it’s really going to be up to the students and their behavior.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
