todayJanuary 19, 2021

The Dodge County Sheriff says there have been no specific threats locally as security ramps up across the country for the presidential inauguration.   Governor Tony Evers activated the National Guard following the attack on the U.S. Capitol and an FBI memo warning of armed protests at state capitals in all 50 states.   Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt says local law enforcement is on alert but has received no reports of any local threats.  Responding to reports that some people involved in the attack in Washington D.C. are on the FBI’s Terrorist Watch List.  “It’s real, and I think we can certainly say that we’ve been dealing with domestic terrorism since May,”  Schmidt told WFDL news.   Schmidt says in his mind there is no difference between what happened at the U.S. Capitol and the riots last summer.   Wisconsin attorney general Josh Kaul said while any violence or destruction is unacceptable the fundamental difference is the U.S. Capitol insurrection was instigated by the president of  the United States and was an attack on the ability of our government to function.
