The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says she was pleased governor Tony Evers issued a new state mask order shortly after the Republican-controlled legislature voted to repeal his previous mandate. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says regardless of what happens in Madison, nothing should change in Fond du Lac County when it comes to wearing masks. Mueller says wearing masks is the biggest reason why the number of positive COVID-19 cases have dropped locally and statewide.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
