8-20-21 waupun stormwater runoff mandate

todayAugust 19, 2021

The city of Waupun hopes to get an extension to meet a state DNR mandate to reduce pollutants from stormwater runoff.   City administrator Kathy Schlieve says in 2017 the city identified the need for 21 retention ponds  at a cost of $9 million.  Schlieve says under the city’s current permit, which  ends in 2024, the city would need to invest about $5 million to build five retention ponds.  Schlieve says  that is something the city cannot achieve, and is hoping the state will grant the city an extension.
