The Fond du Lac County Clerk is expressing disappointment over a divided Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling to not allow absentee ballot drop boxes outside of local election clerk’s offices for the April 5 election. Lisa Freiberg says it’s frustrating. “My reaction to that is here we go again,” Freiberg told WFDL news. “…ridiculous that we change back and forth and back and forth.” Freiberg also says there’s no way to enforce a ruling that no one other than the voter will be allowed to return an absentee ballot. Freiberg says drop boxes in Fond du Lac County were very secure, with a a camera placed on the drop box in front of the city-county government center.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
