2-23-22 advance care planning during pandemic

A social worker with SSM Health Palliative Care says while end of life decisions are never easy, they are essential,  especially now during the pandemic.  Deb Toth says advance care planning is important when the COVID-19 pandemic is forcing some people to make difficult decisions about loved ones who may have been stricken by the disease.  Toth says for COVID-19 patients  it’s a lot easier to have that conversation when you are feeling reasonably well.  Toth says unfortunately there have been situations in Fond du Lac over the past couple of years  where COVID patients are dying, and there is not an advance care plan in place.
