The new Fond du Lac High School principal says he’s looking forward to the challenge. The Fond du Lac School Board officially approved hiring David Michalkiewicz as high school principal at their meeting Monday night. Michalkiewicz has been the athletic director and physical education coordinator at Fond du Lac High School since 2015. He says he looks forward to taking over as principal as the school district restructures it’s administrative team to focus on improving student achievement. “What we’re really going to focus on is maximizing our instructional time, increasing our instructional strategies, and engaging kids,” Michalkiewicz told WFDL news. In his first 90 days Michalkiewicz says he plans to meet with staff to set up a three year academic vision. “…what we would like our kids to know and how we are going to ensure they know it, involving all of our staff in that conversation.” Michalkiewicz will replace Matt Steinbarth starting next school year. Steinbarth has been named the new school district chief of schools and educational accountability.
