Errin Gerred is at work this week in her new role after being appointed interim Fond du Lac County executive. “Very honored to be appointed interim,” Gerred told WFDL news. “…just looking forward to continuing operations as they currently are, providing a smooth transition after the election for the newly elected county executive.” Gerred replaces Marty Farrell who was serving as acting county executive following the unexpected death last month of Allen Buechel from a heart attack. Gerred , who also serves as the county’s director of administration, says she had no desire to run for the office. “Totally enjoy the position I have as director of administration and the ability to work closely with all the department heads. I would say that politics, in general, is not my forte. I like to oversee projects and make good things happen and leave the politics to other folks.” A special election for county executive will be held June 7. County Board supervisor Sam Kaufman will be the only candidate on the ballot.
