Two people were injured in two separate vehicle crashes in Fond du Lac County early Wednesday morning. Shortly after 3:30am a 64 year old woman had to be extricated from her vehicle after hitting a deer on Highway 151 just north of Highway 26. Shortly before 5am rescue personnel were called to a report of a car in a ditch on Highway 49 near County Highway E. Deputies found that the vehicle had been southbound on Hwy 49, near Whooley Road, crossed the centerline, and entered the ditch on the east side of the road. The vehicle struck a culvert and vaulted over a driveway, coming to rest on its tires. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as a 22 year old Brandon man. He was not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was treated by Lifestar Ambulance and flighted by Flight for Life helicopter to a trauma center. His injuries are severe but are not considered to be life-threatening. The major contributing factor that caused the crash is driver fatigue.
