Fond du Lac police say a preliminary investigation indicates that gunshots fired in a near downtown neighborhood were fired into the air and not targeted at anyone. Early Sunday morning police responded to the area of Brooke Street and Forest Avenue for a report of shots fired. Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says nobody was injured. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
