A small gas leak at Waupun Memorial Hospital was quickly repaired over the weekend without having to evacuate any patients. Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa told WFDL news fire crews were called Sunday morning for a report of an alarm sounding in the boiler room at Waupun Memorial Hospital. DeMaa says patients were not in any danger and the hospital was not evacuated. Fire crews were on the scene for a couple of hours.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
