The new year is getting off to a mild start weatherwise and the National Weather Service says more of the same is in the forecast for the foreseeable future. Meteorologist, Kevin Wagner , says the long-range forecast calls for average to above average temperatures. After blizzard-like conditions hit a couple days before Christmas, Wagner says there are no significant winter storms on the horizon.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
