Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged an apartment above a Fond du Lac tavern. About 10pm Wednesday Fond du Lac firefighters were called to the Bull Pen tavern on West 9th Street and quickly knocked down a fire in a second floor apartment. Nobody was home at the time, although several pets died in the fire. The fire caused siginficant damage to the apartment and smoke and water damage to the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
