The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the drowning death of a Fond du Lac man at an Eden area campground. Shortly before 6:30pm Thursday rescue personnel were called to the Breezy Hill campground in the town of Byron for a report of a man trapped under an inflatable floating dock in a swimming pond. Two sheriff’s dive team members brought the victim to shore and began life saving measures before he was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The victim was at the campground with an organization that works with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No foul play is suspected.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
