An increase in shared revenue will help Fond du Lac County balance a proposed 2024 budget. At their meeting Tuesday night the Fond du Lac County Board voted to adopt the 2024 county budget. County executive Sam Kaufman says the county is receiving approximately $1.1 million more in state shared revenue for next year’s budget. Kaufman says no positions or services are being cut. Big ticket items include several highway projects and a new command unit for the sheriff’s office.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
