9-11-24 ripon man convicted in fentanyl overdose death

A Ripon man has been convicted of providing fentanyl that led to an overdose death.    Michael Manske has pled no contest to four counts including  First Degree Reckless Homicide, Maintaining a Drug Trafficking Place, Possession of  THC and Drug Parapernalia.   A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 21st.  Co-defendant Maison Springston pleaded guilty last month.  Co-defendant Joseph Schmidt Rehbein will be sentenced in December and two others are still awaiting […]

9-11-24 dodge county sheriff asks 3 municipalities not to use absentee ballot drop boxes

Three municipal clerks in Dodge County decided against using absentee ballot drop boxes after the Dodge County Sheriff asked them not to.  According to records obtained by WisPolitics Republican sheriff Dale Schmidt emailed clerks in Ashippun, Hustisford and the town of Beaver Dam, warning it could create the appearance of fraud and "degrade trust in our system."  Schmidt told WisPolitics he wasn't pressuring the clerks, but only seeking to ensure they were following best practices […]
