8-26-24 fdl unemployment rate jumps significantly

Recent layoffs at Mercury Marine and Spectrum Charter Communications are reflected in the latest local unemployment rate.  The July unemployment rate in the city of Fond du Lac nearly doubled from 3.6 percent in June to 6.9 percent in July, the highest jobless rate in the state.   The Fond du Lac County rate jumped from three percent to 4.7 percent last month.    The Dodge County unemployment rate held steady at 2.8 percent.

8-22-24 Dodge County Squad Struck

Nobody was seriously injured when a Dodge County Sheriff’s squad pulled over for a traffic stop was struck by a vehicle. The crash happened Thursday morning on County Highway E between Highway I and state highway 26. A passing motorist struck the driver’s side of the squad and pickup that was pulled over. The state patrol is investigating.
