Homes sales in Wisconsin continue to grow.   The Wisconsin REALTORS® Association Real Estate Report shows  May 2024 home sales rose 11% compared to May 2023, and the median price rose to $315,500.  That's  a 6.9% increase over the past 12 months.  Despite the increase in sales, the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose 63 basis points over the  past 12 months, hitting 7.06% in May, causing affordability to drop to an all-time low.

The Department of Public Works would like inform the motoring public of the 2-day closure of northbound traffic on Hickory Street between Forest Avenue and Division Street. The closure is currently in place and remain closed until the end of day Tuesday, June 25. The closure will be in place to allow the water utility to replace and restore a lead service on S Hickory Street.

A disaster declaration has been issued for Waupun after severe thunderstorms dumped heavy rain causing widespread flooding. Most streets have varying degrees of flooding with road closures. Motorists are asked to stay off streets and people are advised to avoid standing water.  Motorists that ignore barricades may be ticketed. Residents are asked to report any flood damage to their insurance company.

A Watertown woman was seriously injured in a domestic related stabbing incident over the weekend.  The incident happened early Friday evening at a residence in the town of Shields.  The 36 year old victim received multiple lacerations and is in stable condition at a hospital.  The 38 year old suspect barricaded himself inside the residence.
